Welcome to Pure Plants

Pure Plants is a traditional nursery growing the vast majority of its own plants.  

We grow an extensive range of quality plants, using both traditional methods and modern techniques. We don’t specialize in one particular group of plants, but instead offer a very broad range, both usual and unusual. 

Unlike many other nurseries, at Pure Plants we continue the traditional nursery practice of growing many of our trees and shrubs in the field here at the nursery.  This allows us to sell them both bare root and root-balled over the autumn and winter, and then as containerised stock during the rest of the year.  This also means that the plants have been raised in local soil and climatic conditions, rather than coming from abroad.

We are also committed to growing our plants in an environmentally sensitive way. We have reduced peat usage on the nursery by 90% and have built our own reservoir to store both rainwater and recycled irrigation water.  In addition all our green waste is composted and re-used on the nursery and we use natural pesticides and predators to control pests.

Above all, we’re real people with over forty years of horticultural and design experience between us. So, whatever your gardening knowledge, if you have a question, we hope to be able to answer it. Or if you’re looking for a specific plant for a specific spot, and don’t know where to start, then come and talk to us.  We’re proud of Pure Plants, and strongly believe it is a special nursery.
