Carpinus betulus Fastigiata

Beautifully shaped, medium sized tree 15m x 12m.  When young it has a narrow pyramidal crown, becoming oval shaped with age.  The ribbed mid-green leaves turn golden in autumn.  Catkins appear in April/May then hop-like clusters of fruits in autumn. Excellent avenue tree. Most soils in sun or part shade.
